Masked Woman
Masked Woman
Many of Ilene’s painting contains images of Masks. In our living room Ilene collected over 150 carved wooden masks throughout Mexico and Central America.
Although the name and the description of this painting is still unknown, these are Ilene own words about Masks.
A mask both reveals and hides. I am a collector of masks. As an artist I like to think about the power a mask can give anyone who wears it. In ancient cultures it was believed that you became whatever the mask represented. If the mask was powerful, so were you.
If the mask were of a butterfly, as this one is, it would represent the aspect of rebirth, renewal, and new directions. The woman in my painting is filled with joy and she looks like she is running. The mask is red for vitality and gold for wisdom. Her black dress is the color of creation, representing the place where the Universe can be created and anything can happen.
This painting invites you to put on the butterfly mask and dance in your heart as you find new directions.
Select a point of entry in the painting. Let it focus your attention on the art work so that it acts as a portal to transport you into a world of healing and opens your thoughts and imagination. Use the mask as a
portal to transport you into a New World. Let yourself imagine that the butterfly mask can open up your vision to see your world differently, that it can open your Soul up to guide you differently. Ask yourself, “What do I want to renew for myself?” See how the meditation invites you to dance to express yourself in joy.
Look and see what new adventures about yourself and your world are awaiting your discovery through the mask’s new perspective.
