Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang, the perpetual power of dark and light, of contrast and balance emerging into Wholeness.
Ilene’s Perceptions as remembered by Conrad
Black represents the deep feminine power from which all of life emerges. Ilene always immersed herself in the constant flow of life from black into white and white into black. In physics between black holes emerging into white holes, and white holes emerging back into black holes.
Ilene perceived how all colors of paint emerge from the color black.
She felt the power of the deep feminine within all humanity emerged from the black velvet spaces of the deep interior, and then emerged into the living nature of the deep feminine through the white.
The purpose of this constant dance between black unseen into white seen was the creation of the fire-the flame of the Sacred Heart which is at the center of many of Ilene’s paintings and sketches. This is Ilene own words about the symbol of the fire that is sacred and burns within the Heart.
The Flaming heart is about being vividly alive in the world.
In my travels into Mexico I found that wherever I looked the Flaming heart was depicted in every corner of life. In giant cathedrals with paintings of the saints and Jesus and Mary. To tiny emblems sold on street corners to represent healing called “Milagros”. Women wore these symbols, men wore them too. I saw them in folk art and people’s homes, on birthday cakes and t-shirts worn by teenagers.
I began to ask what does this mean? The explanations the people gave me helped me to look at my own heart in a new way. This is what I learned.
Our heart is considered the seat of Compassion. A portal into understanding and a way into healing pain and suffering. It is in religious art because it tells us the sacred people we admire are depicted as radiating love from the heart.
It shows being filled with passion for life and living in our world IS THE GREATEST GIFT WE CAN GIVE AND RECEIVE.
It is uniquely human symbol and Shows what we can be in life if we are open to the powers of love. Love that burns with the power to transform. Love that burns with truth and beauty. Love that burns with passion.
The burning heart is designed to radiate love. So wherever my paintings hang in a room, your whole home is filled with radiant love. That then makes the heart sacred.
The Gold spiral is the Sacred. That idea of God being feminine governing wisdom as her divine gift to humanity. The spiral is the most repeated natural design in nature. It also is representative of the Tree of life. The Tree of life was a roadmap of the unconscious in ancient times. Showing the realm of Heaven in the
tree top. Human Life in the trunk and The Earth in the Roots. As well as stages of our human life and the light and dark of our nature.
This painting represents then a symbolic opening to your new powers to grow in wisdom and to radiate love in your new life.
