Fellow Travelers on the Road of the Daily Nawals exploring the
“Days of Remembering”
I’ve had the incredible experience of living in harmony with the Tz’utujiil Maya forces of Paq’alib’al, and they’ve become an integral part of my being. They’ve been my guiding light, showing me a different way to navigate life’s journey.
Starting Tuesday, April 8, 2025, I began sharing a new format of written and visual experiences that reflect my journey with these living forces of light over the years since 2009. The Daily Nawals – The New Dawning of Light will be a collection of written reflections, sacred stories, and visual representations that showcase how I experience this collaborative relationship.
Each day, you can access the information by clicking on one or both of the titles below. A clean PDF will open directly in your email.
Day ??? Nawal ???? Parts 1-4
Day ??? Nawal ????? Parts 5-6
You can also access this information directly on my website: conradsatala.com
With this new format, you have several options to explore the information on today’s daily Nawal:
PDF Parts 1-4
Part 1 provides the same written information as before, but from a Western perspective.
Part 3 offers the same information as before, but with a more Indigenous flow and flavor.
Part 2 presents the same information as before in story and visual form, shared by Yaxper, a 20-24 year old Tz’utujiil Maya young woman who’s learning to connect with the earth and the voice of the Great Grandmother. Through her journey, she learns to embrace this presence from within and beneath her bones and heart, leading her to live life differently.
In Part 4, you’ll hear the same story and visuals from Ix, a young 8-year-old Tz’utujiil girl. She’s opening up about her connection to the earth and her inner self of light that lives within and beneath her bones, with the help of her Great Grandmother. Ix had forgotten this connection, as most children do, a few years ago when she was growing up.
PDF Part 5 and 6. In Part 5, you’ll meet ya Mri’y, an 80-year-old Tz’utujiil Maya woman. She effortlessly remembers and lives her relationship with the earth and her ancestors through the Great Grandmother’s voice. She feels this voice within and beneath her bones, her heart, and the earth itself. The Great Grandmother’s voice not only supports ya Mri’y’s well-being but also the people and all forms of life in her community. It even helps bring light to the larger earth beyond her community.
Part 6 gives you some ideas on how to focus, do simple rituals, simple whispers to self and the earth, and opens you to remember that you can perceive and feel about your life experiences differently. When you experience the Great Grandmother’s voice within and beneath your bones and through the earth around you, it can change how your life unfolds.
Feel free to focus on all the materials or whatever parts you have time for. Choose the form that resonates with you at the moment. Each of the three stories has unique illustrations that reflect the shared story. No images are duplicated, so you can receive the living light from the illustrations of the Voice of the Great Grandmother directly each day and throughout the day.
Start by opening your eyes softly and reflecting on the variety of images that each illustration offers. These images represent the different subtle forces of light in nature, waiting to partner with you in living life today. These illustrations and words within the story will help you begin to experience the light and energy that’s within and beneath your bones, in the heart of the earth, and in all forms of nature around you.
On my website, https://www.conradsatala.com, in the section “Daily Nawals of the Tz’utujiil Maya Landscape with Western Understanding,” you will find a deeper overview where I share the journey I experienced with Ilene during the final thirteen months of her life. This is the first of multiple articles I’ll be offering this year around my oral history of living life, in the forming and deepening relationship with the Daily Nawals.
Open to experience through receiving these words:
The 20 Days of Remembering
A Body-Spirit Journey through the Nawals
Spoken from Conrad, Elder of the Loom of Life
Opening Invocation:
Enter here softly…
Come as you are.
Bring your breath.
Bring your bones.
Bring whatever you carry today.
This is a place of remembering —
not through force,
not through effort —
but through the quiet return
to the body
that is already wise.
Let your body remember…
Let your spine listen…
Let your breath lead the way.
You are welcome here.
You belong here.
You have always belonged.
⸻
Dedication:
This journey is dedicated
to all those
who are learning to remember.
To those whose bodies
carry ancient songs.
To those who walk city streets
with the heart of a forest-dweller.
To those whose bones ache —
not from forgetting —
but from carrying
too much unspoken memory.
This is for the weavers of life —
the quiet walkers,
the breath-followers,
the ones who bend down
to touch the Earth
without needing
to explain why.
This is for you —
a human of many roots,
keeper of the body’s light,
listener to the voice
of the Great Grandmother
who speaks not in words —
but in the pulse of your blood,
the warmth of your joints,
and the rising of your spine
each morning you dare to wake again
and say:
“I remember.”
Blessings Love Conrad
