Opening Reception for the Ilene Satala Memorial Show "Art as Good Medicine" will be at Old Crown Coffee Roasters Gallery3417 North Anthony Blvd.
Reception Dates: Sunday 27 November 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Conrad will be here from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.
The Gallery Show Dates will run from 27 November 2016 through 1 January 2017 at Old Crown Coffee Roasters Gallery 3417 North Anthony Blvd.

Creating a Virtual Gallery
I will be creating two Virtual Galleries on my new website conradsatala.com.
One will be a permanent collection of Ilene's work of art, along with her descriptions of her work that supports "Art as Good Medicine."
The other Gallery will be the complete show that will be displayed in Fort Wayne, Indiana from 27 November 2016 through 1 January 2017. I will also include pictures and video of the show, plus the reception on Sunday 27 November 2016.
This Virtual Gallery will also include other individuals creative work that was inspired my Ilene that were not able to be in the current Gallery at Fort Wayne.
This Virtual Gallery will be open beginning on Sunday 4 December 2016 and run for several months. Please stop by the Virtual Gallery for additional inspiration!

Art as Good Medicine
30 years ago Ilene began to teach the first Art class which emerged into the Art Collective. She brought together artists, writers, musicians, pottery, jewelry creators, photographers, and other creative people together. This launched many individuals into a path of creative pursuits for professional careers, healing of their own body, mind, and spirt, and a deeper meaning into their own lives.
What many individuals were not aware of that during the last months before Ilene’s diagnosis in April 2013, she was re-positioning her body of her life’s work of art into a new direction. Where she began the massive re-writing of her over 300 paintings into this new focus. Below is a copy of what Ilene was re-positioning her work into. This is her writings at that time into her life.

ART AS GOOD MEDICINE
It is said that an image that you see registers in your brain faster than sound or language. It goes directly in and can linger, tumble about and influence what you think and what you are. That is why art is the most powerful medium you can open to.
For this reason, I have created images that are deliberately meant to uplift, inspire and give you hope. My work, in short, is good medicine. I design my work principally for women. Because I am a woman I understand something of the pathways we can travel. These paths can be difficult and sometimes heart breaking, so we need lifting up. We need images that excite the eye, stimulate the brain and wake us up!
When you work with one of my images it is grounded in meaningful symbolism and dynamic color that delights and stimulates a positive energy.
I have explored archeology and traveled in the cultures of the Americas. I understand the value of that which is seen and unseen. I embrace my spirituality as a women and I bring that philosophy into my work.
This is an invitation to travel with me as you look through my work. Let it open your heart and your Soul. Let yourself, as the American Indians say, enter a place where art becomes your good medicine. Let it take you to a place of hope, inspiration and love.
